Raita is a dish made from yogurt together with raw or cooked vegetables , more seldom fruits , or in the case of bundi raita ,with fried droplets of batter made from basen.

Main ingredients are :

Yogurt, butter milk, cucumber, mint

Some types of flat bread may be eaten together with raita, chutnies.

The yogurt may be seasoned with coriander, cumin seeds, mint, pepper, chat masala, herbs and spices.

Some of the examples are :

Spring onion Raita – Onion, curd, mint and salt to taste

Bundi Raita – Bundi, Chilli powder, curd, mint, chat masala, salt, and marinate them for a while

Pomegranate Raita – Pomegranate, curd, mint, chat masala, salt

Raitas can be made from different vegetables such as :

Tomato Raita, Cucumber Raita, Carrot Raita, Pumpkin Raita, Potato Raita, Mint and Peanut Raita, Spinach Raita, Beetroot Raita, Bottle Gourd Raita, Green Gram Raita

Banana Raita, Mango Raita, Guava Raita, Grape Raita, Pineapple Raita

Raitas are usually served as a side dish to be eaten with main course dishes as a success.
